Let's continue to innovate and improve our community for the better. As a lifelong resident and real estate expert, I'm proud to say that Grosse Pointe has always been at the forefront of progress. It's amazing to see how far we've come as a community. These women were real estate hustlers for the sake of humanity!Īnd now, the Cottage Hospital has evolved into the Henry Ford Health Medical Center. They turned a small cottage on Oak Street (now Muir Road) into a makeshift hospital and even bought the house next door to expand, adding operating and maternity units. Well the joke is on me because thanks to the real estate queens Baroness Maud Ledyard Von Kettler, Anna Dodge, and Ethel DuPont Roosevelt Warren, they made it happen. Sounds more like the start to a bad joke! I mean, come on, five adult beds, five children's beds, and three bassinets? That's hardly enough to accommodate a slumber party, let alone a pandemic. I can't help but chuckle at the thought of a "cottage hospital" being the first line of defense against the great Spanish influenza in Grosse Pointe back in 1918. #SandersIceCream #GrossePointe #HeavenlyHash #LocalHistory #Renovations #FuturePossibilities #Yum #RealEstateExpert #SupportLocal #Wereleys #RealtorSteveGP #RealEstateInGP #grossepointe #grossepointewoods #grossepointefarms #grossepointepark #grossepointeshores #Detroit #stclairshores #harperwoods #warrenmichigan #ferndale #royaloak #sterlingheights #realestateinmichigan #houseforsale #buyingahome #WayneCounty #SoutheasternMichigan Sanders Chocolate & Ice Cream Shops Moosejaw Mountaineering □□Īnd if you're looking to buy or sell a home in and around this beautiful area, allow me the privilege to serve you! Employees were dedicated fixtures of the community, working there for up to 40 years!Īlthough the store closed in the late 90s, the location has been home to several different businesses since and is currently undergoing renovations.
